The favourites for the women’s artistic gymnastics vault finals scheduled for Saturday at this year’s Paris Olympics are Simone Biles of the USA and Rebeca Andrade of Brazil.

The vault is one of the gymnastic events, that one can associate with Biles, and she witnessed that during the women’s all-around, where she made a Yurchenko double pike that is now known as Biles II.

Earlier this week, she emerged as the winner in the vault qualifying round, scoring a 15.300.

In this event, one of the major rivals is anticipated to be Andrade, from Brazil. Vault qualifying scores; second place was taken by Andrade with a score of 14.683. Andrade also won gold in the vault at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and outperformed Biles in the 2023 world championship.

During Thursday all-around competition Biles took the gold and had the highest score for vault. Andrade scored the silver and was the second on the vault, placing the scene for a formidable fixture of the apparatus final on Saturday.

How do different gymnasts make it to the vault final and remain there till the end?
According to the scores gained in the all-around qualifications earlier at the Olympics, the top eight gymnasts qualified for the final in that apparatus event. The vault is the only apparatus where gymnasts undertake two vaults, and then the total score from the two vaults is then combined and split in two to get the qualification total.
